| dc.description.abstract | This research paper explores the dual nature of video gaming's impact on young people's psycho-social development, synthesizing findings from global studies to provide a 2 comprehensive understanding of both its positive and negative effects. Video games, while often criticized for contributing to addiction, social isolation, and aggression, have also been found to enhance cognitive skills, foster social connections, and serve as tools for mental health interventions. Drawing on recent studies from various countries and contexts, this paper investigates how video gaming influences emotional regulation, social behaviors, academic performance, and overall well-being among children and adolescents. The study will critically assess the mechanisms by which video games shape self-identity, peer relationships, and mental health, with an emphasis on the varying outcomes depending on game content, usage patterns, and individual characteristics. The paper concludes with recommendations for parents, educators, and policymakers on managing video game use in a way that maximizes benefits while minimizing potential risks to young people's social and psychological development. | |
