This paper provides a description of what data journalism is, considering it a product of the evolution of media and communication technology. It highlights key concepts as a new journalistic approach in the digital environment, which relies on the existence of the internet and advanced technological and electronic systems. With this major transformation, data has become widely accessible in all fields, making it easier for journalists or media organizations to access. This has contributed to the emergence of data journalism as a new form of journalism in media institutions, combining skills in data presentation. Our study, following a descriptive method using observation as a tool, has determined that data journalism represents a turning point in the field of journalism, where journalists combine digital skills with the ability to filter and simplify available data and turn it into appropriate journalistic output such as a story, text, or news report. It is also a sequential process in data analysis relying on statistical analysis, computer science, design, and editing to distill data into its final form. Keywords: data ; data journalism ; technology ; digital evolution .
