ENHANCING THE ASSESSMENT OF DISABILITY-ADJUSTED LIFE YEARS (DALY) FOR TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS IN ALGERIA THROUGH INFORMATION SYSTEMS

The study focuses on improving Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY) assessments for traffic accidents in Algeria through advanced information systems. Traffic accidents pose a major public health issue in Algeria, significantly impacting morbidity and mortality. DALY, a critical metric, combines years of life lost (YLL) and years lived with disability (YLD) to quantify this burden. Underreporting and fragmented data often compromise DALY estimate accuracy in Algeria. The research proposes integrating real-time traffic monitoring, digital reporting tools, and comprehensive databases to enhance data collection and analysis for more accurate DALY estimates. Smart technologies, data-sharing platforms, and collaboration among government agencies, hospitals, and insurance companies are examined to improve data quality. The findings indicate that better data systems and coordination can inform policymaking and resource allocation, reducing the traffic accident burden. The study underscores the transformative potential of information systems in public health data management and safer transportation strategies.

Effective governance of urban public transportation is critical to ensuring that transportation systems are efficient, inclusive, and sustainable. It examines the role of governance in both the planning and implementation stages, emphasizing how well-designed strategies and inclusive policymaking contribute to the long-term sustainability of urban transportation systems. This paper explores the opportunities and challenges associated with transitioning to public transportation via dedicated lanes in Algerian cities, with a particular focus on energy conservation. As urbanization accelerates and traffic congestion intensifies, the need for efficient and sustainable transportation solutions becomes increasingly urgent. The implementation of dedicated lanes for public transport is proposed as a strategy to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and attractiveness of public transit, while also contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing energy consumption. The paper identifies the key benefits of dedicated lanes, such as improved travel times, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and increased public transport usage. However, it also highlights the significant challenges, including infrastructural constraints, financial limitations, and resistance from stakeholders. Focusing on these areas could have a substantial impact on ridership and user perception, ultimately contributing to the tram system’s role as a reliable and trusted public transportation option in Oran.
