The present study entitled “Rules of Interpretation in the Long Seven Chapters through the Analysis of Al Bahr El Muheet of Abi Hayen Al Andalussi” was an attempt to investigate the rules of interpretation broadly. This latter is considered one of the most important problematic in the Quranic Studies due to its seriousness and deepness which entails more precision in the research. However, the study explores the analysis and interpretation of Al Bahr El Muheet and specifically in the Long Seven Chapters. The research discusses many areas. The most important ones are the disclosure of the rules of interpretation in Al Bahr El Muheet in the seven chapters by highlighting its main characteristics and taking advantage of it. Giving a clear description to these rules being related to Abu Hayen or to what the interpreters have agreed upon. Besides, it is an attempt to explore which of these explanatory rules are considered weighting rules, and on what basis did Abu Hayen rely on his weighting. The current research requires an induction of the seven long chapters and an analysis of the rules of interpretation that Abu Hayen has mentioned. The research is composed of three chapters. It consists of a preliminary discussion which deals with the context of the study and a general conclusion which closes the research. Chapter one is, therefore, a discussion about abu Hayen Al Andalussi and the interpretation Al Bahr El Muheet. However, the chapter is divided into two sections. Section one offers a brief biography of Abi Hayen, his creed and doctrine. Hence, the scholar was raised in a distinct educational milieu that characterizes Andalusia with the multiplicity of workshops in different areas of science that made of him one of the distinguished figures in different fields of science in general and in language and its interpretation specifically. Nonetheless, most of the scholars agreed upon the integrity of his creed, manifestation of the doctrine which later on changed into Shafee’s one. We have also mentioned the tutors who had learnt from them; amongst: abou jaafar ibn zoubair and ibn altabaa. It has been identified that Abu Hayan had frequently travelled for the acquisition of knowledge. However, he vsited Elmaghreb, Alhijez and Esham and, finaly he settled in Egypt. Therefore, many students came across the world to learn from Imam Abu Hayyan in various fields of studies. These students, in turn became famous scholars, among them Elsamin Alhalabi, the author of "Eldur Elmassone fi Ouloum Elkitab Elmaknoun", Elsafadi Elissnawi and many others. Furthermore, it has been perceived the priceless achievements in may fields of science: Islamic knowledge, such as tafsir of Qur'an, hadith (prophetic tradition), fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Arabic language and, even, in translation. Imam Abu Hayyan was died on Safar 28th, 745H and was buried at al-Sufiyyah cemetery in Egypt. Section two provides an insightful notion of Al Bahr El Muheet fi Tafsir Elqoran Elkarim" ; its interpretation, the rationale behind its writing and his methodology in this interpretation. In this latter, firstly, he started with the explanation of the lexical items, then he mentioned the reasons of revelation of the Quran, the abrogater and the abrogated the occasion between verses and surahs (nearness or similarities), the recitations and their directions. The main features of his methodology was that he did not repeat what he explained previously. He focused on Principles of Islamic jurisprudence issues, the best forms of grammar, the rhetoric and the figurative language. We have also mentioned the references in its interpretation which shows that it was different and abundant in the language, interpretation bibliography and principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Chapter two offered some background issues in the rules of interpretation. It consists of two sections. The first section defined the rules of interpretation, by providing both the linguistic and the idiomatic definitions. It has been conceived that it is a special inclusive rulings for the interpretation of the holly Quran to avoid fault and deviation while interpreting obtained from the linguistic sciences, Quran sciences and Principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Moreover, the difference between the rules if interpreting and the linguistic and juristic rules has been discussed. It has been realized that the main difference rely on the subject matter of each science. The rules of interpretation’s subject matter is the word of Allah whereas the rules of linguistics’ subject matter is the language. Therefore, there is a requirement to these rules of interpretation for its serves as a tool that assist to interpret the Quran to avoid the wrong interpretation. Section two was devoted to the historical perspective of the rules of interpretations, origins and the phenomenal rise. Nevertheless, the emergence of the rules of interpreting is closely correlated to the interpretation science and its known stages; starting from the prophetic interpretation. However, clear milestones to the rules featured with principles of jurisprudence through Shafiee’s book “ Rissala”. Later on, many interpretations, like the interpretation of Tabari, have appeared. In the 8th century of immigration, Ibn Taimmiah had authored "mukadima in the principles of interpretation" which is considered as the starting point to the Establishment phase of the interpretation rules as a independent science. Moreover, we mentioned also the most important books in the interpretation rules such as:"elitkan fi oloum alqora" of soyouti,"elkawid el hissan litafssir elqoran"of abdulrahmen ben nacer elssadi. It has been shown that the content of some of these books is completely different and vice versa. Categorization of the interpretation rules mentioned by Ibn Hayen was further discussed. Therefore the rules have been classified according to its subject on the juristic way. Chapter three is the most important for it contains the practical part of the interpretation rules in interpreting El Bahr Al Muheet in the Long Seven Chapters. It consists of three sections. The first section which is composed of five parts discusses the rules related to the Quran discourse. The first is devoted to the interpretation rules proper to recitations in which some were agreed upon and others disagree. However, Abu Hayan (May God have mercy on him) outweigh what he sees correct to the jurists and to grammatical rules. The second part is related to the interpretation rules proper to the interpretation of the Quran with the Quran which were in most of the time from Abu Hayan’s diligence. The third part, however, is related to the interpretation rules proper to the apparent of the Quran based on grammar rules and Arabs ways in speech. The fourth part is related to the interpretation rules proper to the quranic discourse. Therefore its significance to Abi HAyan is the relation of the meaning to the anaphoric and cataphoric references of the verse. The fifth part is related to the interpretation rules proper to the abrogation and it is of three types: those specified to Abi Hayan, those outweighed by him and those agreed by the scholars. The second section contains the rules related to the prophetic tradition. It is divided, in its turn, into three sub sections. The first one explored the rules of interpretation proper to the causes of revelation which are of two kinds: The outweighed and the agreed by muslim scholars. The second sub section discussed the interpretation rules proper to the interpretation of the Quran by the sunah. However, it has been perceived that Ibn Hayan has adopted this method in many occasions. In the third sub section, we have investigated the interpretation rules proper to the interpretation of the Quran by the sayings of the companions and the followers. The third section discussed the interpretation rules proper to the Arabic language. This section is divided into three sub sections. The first one which is related to the interpretation rules proper to the significance of the lexical items is divided into six sub sections. The first one is related to the interpretation rules proper to the Arabic use to nouns and verbs for Abu Hayan was strictly limited to the syntactic and semantic rules of the language. The second one is related to the interpretation rules proper to the Arabic use to pronouns. He was based on the confirmation of the latter scholars to its significance. However, the third one is related to the interpretation rules proper to the Arabic use to the general and specific. It has been discerned that Abu Hayan outweighed some impartial that the scholars disagreed upon. Therefore, he relied upon evidences in speech either generally or specifically; some of the rules are typically juristic. The fourth one is related to the interpretation rules proper to the absolute and the restricted. The fifth one is related to the interpretation rules proper to commands and prohibitions. Rules in both absolute and the restricted; and commands and prohibitions are similar to the general and specific in the way of its deduction. The sixth one is related to the interpretation rules proper to facts and metaphors. It has been conceived that proceeding the real meaning is preferable. However, the metaphoric meaning is sometimes intended. If the metaphor opposes, it is preferable to proceed it. The second section discussed three sub sections. The first is related to the interpretation rules proper to the styles of the Quran which has been varied between advancing, retarding, describing, questioning and omission. The first is related to the interpretation rules proper to the Quran speeches derived from the Arabic language speeches. The third is related to the interpretation rules proper to the pronouns in which Abu Hayan is abided by the grammatical rules. Consequently, we can say that the deduced interpretation rules from the seven long chapters in the translation of Al Bahr Al Muheet is diverse either in terms of themes or in the Abi Hayan’s exclusiveness for the others or in the consent or variance of some scholars.
