Abstract
Today’s child has become an active and multi-platform consumer of digital content, with modern animated cartoons taking center stage as a powerful medium capable of deeply influencing the child’s psychological, linguistic, and value-based development. These visual productions have evolved, thanks to digital technologies and artificial intelligence, from mere entertainment into cultural carriers that reshape children's identities and guide their emotions and behaviors—often in subtle ways.
This presentation aims to open a scientific dialogue on this media transformation in the context of childhood by critically examining the content of modern animated cartoons directed at children. It will analyze their symbols, discourses, and connotations while shedding light on their new manifestations under the dominance of global digital platforms such as Netflix and YouTube Kids. The presentation also questions the compatibility of these cartoons with the cultural and value-based identity of the Arab child, especially in the face of the challenges posed by digital globalization and the decline of local, alternative production.
