| dc.description.abstract | This paper explores the opportunities and challenges associated with transitioning to public transportation via dedicated lanes in Algerian cities, with a particular focus on energy conservation. As urbanization accelerates and traffic congestion intensifies, the need for efficient and sustainable transportation solutions becomes increasingly urgent. The implementation of dedicated lanes for public transport is proposed as a strategy to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and attractiveness of public transit, while also contributing to environmental sustainability by reducing energy consumption. The paper identifies the key benefits of dedicated lanes, such as improved travel times, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and increased public transport usage. However, it also highlights the significant challenges, including infrastructural constraints, financial limitations, and resistance from stakeholders. Furthermore, the study examines the regulatory, technological, and societal factors that influence the successful implementation of such systems in Algerian cities. Drawing on international best practices and case studies, the paper offers recommendations for overcoming the barriers to successful implementation, emphasizing the need for strong governance, public-private partnerships, and public awareness campaigns. The findings contribute to the ongoing discourse on sustainable urban mobility and provide valuable insights for policymakers aiming to foster a transition to energy-efficient public transportation systems in Algeria. | |
