Therapeutic Play with Puppet the Efficacy of Children's Theatre in Enhancing Psychological Well-being and Pedagogical Values.

Abstract

This in-depth study investigates the multifaceted therapeutic potential of puppet theatre as a specialized modality within play therapy, specifically in the context of enhancing psychological well-being and fostering pedagogical values in children. The study operates on the fundamental premise that representation is an intrinsic activity for children, providing a natural conduit for the expression of emotions and ideas, and the satisfaction of basic needs for movement and imitation. This intervention aims to highlight the procedural efficacy of children's theatre, particularly puppet theatre, in establishing a safe and supportive therapeutic environment that addresses the complex psychological needs of children facing developmental and emotional challenges .Beyond its traditional role in aesthetic cultivation and the elevation of artistic taste, theatre acquires amplified significance when employed therapeutically. Puppet theatre distinguishes itself through unique structural and dynamic characteristics that render it a promising therapeutic tool. It enables children to project their inner feelings and conflicts onto the animated puppet characters, creating a safe distance for emotional expression and exploration. Interaction with puppets also provides opportunities for the development of social skills, the enhancement of empathy, and the acquisition of healthy coping mechanisms.
