Résumé:
This study aims to shed light on the current state and prospects of renewable energy in Algeria, with
a focus on its role in achieving energy security, as it represents one of the most important alternative
energy approaches and optimal solutions to address the challenges faced by traditional energy sources
that are threatened by depletion.
Recognizing the importance of this topic, Algeria, like many other countries, has sought to develop
plans, policies, and enact laws to promote the renewable energy sector, to enhance its energy diversity,
reduce the risks that threaten its energy security, such as fluctuations in energy supply and demand,
and reduce income losses resulting from energy imports, in addition to reducing reliance on energy
imports in general.
The study concluded that despite the efforts made by the Algerian authorities to develop renewableenergy and increase its role in the economy through a number of projects related to the development
of renewable energy, these efforts are still not enough and have not reached the level that is expected
from this sector as an alternative to traditional energy sources and to achieve energy security.
