dc.description.abstract |
Since the end of the Cold War, Russia has intensively sought to regain control over the surrounding geopolitical sphere of the Commonwealth of Independent States by reintegrating its countries into new regional frameworks that are capable of sustaining Russian domination over this space and confronting rival powers policies and projects that seek to undermine Russian influence. However, Russia’s restoration projects could not maintain the Soviet dependencies or establish an effective and attractive regional integration model due to a mixture of disrupting factors that prevent Russia from implementing these projects and consolidating its role as a hegemonic power in the region. |
