This study is a part of the large programm of the research about original Algerian species reputed for their richness with secondary metabolites with intense biological activities. Our extraction works on the aerial parts of Ruta montana originated from North Eastern Algeria, followed by the chromatographic separations (CC, TLC) permitted us to identify four coumarins: • Xanthotoxin • Isopimpinillin (isolated for the first time from the specie) • Heraclenol (reported for the first time from the genus) • Rutamontanin (6-hydroxy-7-methoxy-3,7’-dicoumarinylether): is new The analogue treatments of the aerial parts of the specie Matricaria pubescens leaded to the separation and the identification of two coumarins and an isobutylamide: • Herniarin • Dihydroherniarin (reported for the first time) • (2E,4E)-6-(2-thienyl)-2,4-hexadien-isobutylamide In another hand, we have isolated and identified one dehydroflavonol and a polyisoprenylated phloroglucinol from Hypericum perfoliatum. • Dehydrokaempherole • Hyperfoliatin Recently, we have shown that hyperfoliatin, extracted from H. perfoliatum, was remarkably active against the rats forced swimming test and anti-immobilty effect. These results indicates that hyperfoliatin is an antidepessant constituent of H. perfoliatum.
