Journalists and editors now rely on data analytics to gain deeper insights into events and trends, and then transform these analyses into narratives that reflect societal shifts and trends. This article will explore how data is transformed into compelling journalistic content. It will analyze the process of converting data into impactful media stories and highlight the methods and tools journalists use to extract engaging stories from numbers, aligning with the demands of contemporary digital media. We will understand how data can drive modern journalism and how journalists can leverage this powerful tool to enhance media coverage and foster more effective communication with audiences. Additionally, the article will provide practical examples of how numbers are turned into stories that illustrate phenomena and changes in various fields such as politics, economics, and culture. It will also address the challenges faced in utilizing data in journalism and explore innovative ways to overcome these challenges to enhance the media’s role in highlighting important and inspiring issues for the public. Arab journalism is witnessing a qualitative shift from traditional methods to methodologies that rely heavily on analyzing and presenting data as part of journalistic content. This new trend reflects the growing interest in data journalism in the Arab media, as media organizations adopt the latest tools and techniques to analyze and visualize data in order to provide more accurate, transparent and objective reporting. The study focuses on a number of factors that have contributed to this shift, including technological development, increased public awareness of the importance of data in understanding various issues, and the growing role of open data provided by some government and private organizations. The study also explores how journalists can benefit from specialized workshops and training courses in data journalism, which enhances their abilities to analyze data and employ it to produce informative content.

This paper provides a description of what data journalism is, considering it a product of the evolution of media and communication technology. It highlights key concepts as a new journalistic approach in the digital environment, which relies on the existence of the internet and advanced technological and electronic systems. With this major transformation, data has become widely accessible in all fields, making it easier for journalists or media organizations to access. This has contributed to the emergence of data journalism as a new form of journalism in media institutions, combining skills in data presentation. Our study, following a descriptive method using observation as a tool, has determined that data journalism represents a turning point in the field of journalism, where journalists combine digital skills with the ability to filter and simplify available data and turn it into appropriate journalistic output such as a story, text, or news report. It is also a sequential process in data analysis relying on statistical analysis, computer science, design, and editing to distill data into its final form.
